Purple
International Dance Festival for Young Audiences
Since 2017, our goal with our festival has been to inspire children and young people to dance and to arouse their curiosity about contemporary performances. The name PURPLE symbolizes our desire to appeal to everyone. Purple combines the colors blue and red, makes no difference between boys and girls and stands for openness and inclusion.
PURPLE is for everyone!
For our viewers, the preoccupation with dance promotes emotional and spatial perception and demands abstract thinking skills. Every year we put together an exciting stage program with different aesthetic approaches and content-related topics from the international, contemporary dance scene.
We not only want to sharpen the viewing habits of our young audience, but also to encourage participation, empathy and further thinking. In addition to our stage program, we offer a comprehensive supporting program. For each piece, a special mediation format is offered, and on weekends there are several free dance workshops for children and teenagers.
Also teachers: inside and educators: inside we get the chance to gain basic knowledge about contemporary dance. A free workshop should motivate them to integrate dance into everyday school life even after the festival visit.
Since the beginning, the Uferstudios have been our festival center. We cooperate with numerous Berlin cultural institutions such as HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Theater an der Parkaue, Theater Strahl, Junges Tanzhaus Berlin, Theater o.N. and the Jugenddtheaterwerkstatt Spandau in order to introduce young people to dance art on various stages throughout the city. We are part of the project ‘Offensive Tanz für junges Publikum’ (Offensive Dance for Young Audiences) and want to make dance more visible to young audiences in Berlin. In addition, we are expanding our international network in the field of dance in order to create synergies for this young division.
Experience with us the variety of dance and be inspired by PURPLE!
