Participation & Outreach

In Berlin, there are sometimes high barriers to the participation of children and adolescents (participation atlas children and adolescents, 2024). In contrast, there are 3 key wishes expressed by young people: Leisure opportunities, self-determination, participation.
Through various projects and offers, we invite young people to participate and participate. In addition to participatory offers for young people, we rely on a workshop programme for teachers and pupils, which is based on the now established format ‘perceive dance’, as well as on further training courses for teachers in order to bring the age group 12 and older more into contact with dance in the future. In the future, the aim will be to develop new participatory strategies and outreach offers together with young people and then to test them.

Perceiving dance

“Perceive Dance” is a free format developed as part of Amelie Mallmann’s Offensive Dance. It is aimed at all those who know and understand more about the creation of dance pieces and want to train their own resonance ability. How can I get involved in a dance piece? What does it take for this? Together we tune in to the piece, sharpen our perception and try out movements that can be recognised later in the piece.

Dance Ambassadors

The project “Dance Ambassadors” is about networking, empowerment and visibility: Like-minded people come together and share their enthusiasm for dance. The dance ambassadors explore the dance scene of Berlin together, capture impressions in blog posts, meet professional dancers and design workshops themselves.
The work is remunerated and there are free tickets for the PURPLE Dance Festival and other dance performances in Berlin.

Are you interested and between 14 and 25 years old? Then contact Canan by e-mail at info@purple-tanzfestival.de. We look forward to seeing you!

The “Tanzbotschafter:innen” is a project of the PURPLE Festival in cooperation with Offensive Tanz für junges Audience.

Poetry & Dance Slam Battle

Our Poetry & Dance Slam Battle, which takes place regularly at Theater Strahl, is inspired by the classic Dance Battle and combines it with the world of Poetry Slam. The format was developed by Florian Bilbao in 2023 and has already taken place six times since then.

The design is based on the following questions:
Is it possible to create a format in which poets and dancers discover and challenge each other? What preconditions would have to be met so that every artist feels supported and at the same time can leave their own comfort zone?

Further information on upcoming dates and participation opportunities can be found here.

Workshops at the PURPLE Dance Festival

In cooperation with the Offensive Tanz, PURPLE Tanzfestival 2027 offers preparatory workshops for festival visits at eight schools in Berlin. These are led by professional dance educators and combine content and dance approaches to pieces from the festival program in order to deepen the perception and understanding of the stage work. In addition, a follow-up format takes place after the festival visit, for example in the form of a workshop or an audience discussion, in order to sustainably reflect and anchor the experience.
