Young dance house Berlin

The Junge Tanzhaus Berlin produces, develops and presents dance for young and age-spanning audiences. Another focus is on dance in public schools. It combines professional artistic practice with learning, co-creation and social exchange.

People encounter dance in different ways: as an audience, as a dancer, as a learner, as an artist inside, as a neighbor inside or as a co-creator. These accesses, SHOPPING, MEMBERS, LEARNING, MEMBERS and DEVELOPMENTS do not coexist but interlock.

This is how a dance house is created in Neukölln, where performances, school projects, artistic developments, neighbourhood work and international cooperations come together. Many formats deliberately push the boundaries of these areas and create new approaches to dance – on stage, in schools, in the house and in the city. In the projects and formats, connections between art, education and society are consciously sought and initiated.

The many years of work and experience of TanzZeit e.V. and TANZKOMPLIZEN form the foundation for the construction of the Junge Tanzhaus Berlin. For over twenty years, TanzZeit has been bringing artistic practice to schools and educational spaces. For more than ten years, TANZKOMPLIZEN has been creating professional dance productions for young audiences, which are shown nationally and internationally.

In the Junges Tanzhaus Berlin, these experiences are bundled for the first time in one place: as a production house, venue, learning location and platform for exchange, cooperation and artistic development. At the same time, the house sees itself as part of the independent dance scene and as an infrastructure for artists, companies, networks and cooperations in Berlin and beyond.

At the Junges Tanzhaus Berlin you can experience dance in many ways.

SHOPPING – You can see dance pieces by professional dancers inside and choreographer inside on stage.

MESSAGES – You dance in courses, workshops or holiday projects yourself.

LEARN – At school or in the dance house, learn how dance works and what you can express with it.

DEVELOP – You bring in your own ideas and develop new dances, scenes or projects together with others.

MITREDEN – You can tell us what is important to you and help shape the Junge Tanzhaus Berlin.
