Our dance ambassador Mika watched the performance “DINGE DINGE” as part of the PURPLE dance festival and wrote us a report about her experience.

DINGE DINGEN
My report must begin in the foyer. Everywhere were grapes of young people, accompanied by a few isolated, in their height outstanding, so-called adults. For me, the spectacle of things began right here, with scissors-stone-paper rounds, excitement that shows up throughout the body, lively conversations and colorful patterns and colors on jacket and tights. Before a dance performance, I really liked being surrounded not only by ‘adults’ bursting with seriousness.
As soon as everyone was sitting, it started directly or rather went on. In ‘Things’, two people – one in yellow with slippers and one in blue and glitter – tasted every possibility of the things they shared the stage with. Among them were a watering can, a drying rack, rubber gloves, a sponge, a grandpa trolli, a duster, a comb, several funnels, of course in different sizes and much more.
The carousel of things began quite concretely with the idea of things themselves by depicting them with the help of one's own body, and only then did the real physical thing follow with its presence on stage. I deliberately always speak explicitly of ‘things’, because the two dancers did the same in the play. They were all things that mattered. Together, sometimes had a solo appearance, or served to merge.
So Blau+Glitzer could be observed in a duet with a garden chair, where the thing was above her, next to her and also under her. Above all, however, one could be seen together. And the chair was no longer just a chair and Blau+Glitzer was no longer just a human being – a kind of metamorphosis.
Gelb+Badelatschen was then just as close to the chair at ‘Are you like me?!’, opening up an interpersonal and human-thing dimension. Since Gelb+Badelatschen did not fit into every hole of the chair like Blau+Glitzer, the audience naturally made themselves felt with a few giggles. And even when the two dancing parties started with things, a few arms and hips moved in the audience.
The real art of the piece by Jan Rozman and Julia Keren Turbahn (concept, choreography, performance) was clearly that, as crystallized in retrospect when exchanging impressions in the foyer, the viewer of all ages liked it. Nor did I, as a young adult, feel that ‘adults are doing something for children’, with children and their intellect being completely underestimated.
It was more a carousel ride of Blau+Glitzer and Gelb+Badelatschen through the world of things. A research about dance and with little headed head, which has made it so accessible for everyone and a real pleasure to participate in it.
