Our dance ambassador Mika watched the performance ‘DINGE DINGE’ as part of the PURPLE dance festival and wrote us a report about her experience.

DINGE THINGS
My report has to start in the foyer. Everywhere were grapes of young people, accompanied by a few isolated, in their height outstanding, so-called adults. For me, the spectacle of things began right here, with scissors-stone-paper rounds, excitement that shows up throughout the body, lively conversations and colorful patterns and colors on jacket and tights. I really liked not only being surrounded by serious ‘adults’ before a dance performance.
As soon as everyone was seated, it started directly, or rather continued. In Things, two people – one all in yellow with slippers and one in blue and glitter – have tasted every opportunity of the things they shared the stage with. Among them were a watering can, a drying rack, rubber gloves, a sponge, a grandpa trolli, a duster, a comb, several funnels, of course in different sizes and much more.
The things carousel began very concretely with the idea of things themselves through the representation of these with the help of one's own body, and only then did the real physical thing follow with its presence on stage. I deliberately talk about ‘things’ again and again because the two dancers did the same thing in the piece. All were things that mattered. Together, once had a solo appearance, or served to merge.
Thus, Blau+Glitzer could be observed in a duet with a garden chair, with the thing above her, next to her and also below her. Above all, one could see each other. And the chair was no longer just a chair, and Blau+Glitzer was no longer just a human being – a metamorphosis in a sense.
Gelb+Badelatschen was then in the same position with the chair at ‘do you do as I do?!’, with an interpersonal and between human-and-thing dimension. Since yellow + slippers did not fit into every hole in the chair like blue + glitter, the audience made themselves felt quite naturally with a few giggles. And even when the two dancing parties were hanging out with things, a few arms and hips moved in the audience.
But the real art of the piece by Jan Rozman and Julia Keren Turbahn (concept, choreography, performance) clearly lay in the fact that, as it crystallized in retrospect while exchanging the impressions in the foyer, the viewers of all ages enjoyed it. And as a young adult, I did not have the feeling that ‘adults do something for children’, whereby the children and their intellect are completely underestimated.
It was more of a carousel ride of blue + glitter and yellow + slippers through the world of things. A research on dance and with little head upside down, which has made it so accessible and a real pleasure for everyone to participate in it.
