It's a gift to be a dance ambassador!
Annual review of dance ambassadors Nele and Ophelia
We both, Nele and Ophelia, received this gift and enjoyed it a lot this year as dance ambassadors. As always, we saw new dance pieces, wrote articles, organized workshops and met many dancers from the dance scene.
It's been a year now. I (Nele) remember how I participated in a wacking workshop with a friend at that time. I had almost no contact with dancing before, although it has always been a lot of fun for me. Curious as I am, I got into conversation with Celine and found out that she was active in the project of the dance ambassadors. She told me that they also organized free workshops for young people, watched dance pieces and wrote about these articles. I was very impressed and we exchanged numbers. A month later, I met the others. We met on a cold February day in the café and already discussed other projects. Then the first group photo was taken with me and we arranged to visit a dance performance. I was really excited. It was my first time watching a dance piece and I must honestly say that I didn't understand that much in the beginning. But over time, I found it really nice to interpret and share with the others how they understood it. It became particularly interesting when we could really talk to the dancers.
In addition, I also tried out private dance courses, such as Contemporary, and found more and more pleasure in this form of art and expression. I now go to dance training twice a week.

“Through my work in this project, I also want to bring other young people into contact with dancing, so that they too can feel this joy and it may also become a part of their lives.” Nele
I (Ophelia) heard about the dance ambassadors several years ago, but I never really understood what it was all about. At the beginning of this year I asked the former dance ambassador Valeria again directly. She told me about the concept behind it and inspired me - so I came through her project... I am very grateful to be part of the dance ambassadors and to always look at new dance pieces and thus get to know insights into new dance directions as well as new people from the dance scene. In addition, I not only enjoy writing about the dance pieces, but also organizing workshops for young people.
“I can combine several of my passions with my work as a dance ambassador: dance, writing and curiosity. For me it is a 'dream activity'!" Ophelia
We are both very grateful that the dance ambassadors project will continue next year, making the opportunity to dance accessible to young people. We are looking forward to everything that the project will bring next year!
